National Security Courses

These classes focus on U.S. national security issues as the nation continues to reflect on the 2001 attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon and deal with the repercussions from its conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Basic themes include, but are not limited to:

  • Military strategies in an era of asymmetrical warfare
  • Counterinsurgencies and terrorism
  • Threats in the cyberworld and threats to civil liberties
  • American alliances of principle or convenience
  • The role of the intelligence agencies

In all of these issues, we examine the media’s role and how well media organizations communicate with
the American public.
