Controversy over U.S. initiative to aid Mexico

The Merida Initiative, a partnership between the U.S. and Mexico approved by Congress in 2008, has appropriated $1.6 billion to help Mexico overcome its struggle with drug cartels.  The Obama Administration contends that continued unrest in Mexico will only spill over into the U.S. and hails the partnership as a success. Human rights activists advocate for military action

WASHINGTON—Leaders of the Invisible Children, the human rights organization behind the KONY 2012 campaign, say risking the lives of American troops to catch Joseph Kony is worth it.
